After street observation, designers of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University found out that people tend to lean on desks or handrails when they are tired. Inspired by human’s unconscious behavior, Balustrade Chair, an unconventional product, is designed for this temporary situation. Therefore, designers used a simpler way to realize this thought, while not putting much attention on comfort level.

In the upper-end of the legs, a “negative print” of the extruded beam-profile is milled out. This allows the leg to be slided onto the beam and left where wanted. When the table stands, gravity locks the legs and stabilizes the whole construction.
