Méo

Just like a real game of building blocks ready to assemble, Meo is a construction with a childlike and innocent character that stands out for its rigor and balanced composition. While the richness and depth of the oak brings a certain wisdom to the saturated colored scaffolding elements, an interesting duality is captured between the rigidity of the design piece and its slanted yet controlled position. Meo tends to remind us all the joy and happiness a simple wooden toy punctuated by a few bright colors can provide to a child.

Kagome

Designed by Shinn Asano with background in graphic design, Sen is a 6 piece collection of steel furniture that turns 2D lines into 3D forms. Each piece including “kagome stool” has been created with lines that minimize excess to express both form and functionality in a range of applications, inspired by unique sources such as traditional Japanese craft and patterns. Kagome stool is made from 18 right angle triangles that support each other and when viewed from above forms the traditional Japanese craft pattern kagome moyou.

1x3

1x3 is inspired by interlocking burr puzzles. It is both - a piece of furniture and a brain teaser. All parts stay together without the need of any fixtures. The interlocking principle involves only sliding movements giving a very fast assembly process and making 1x3 appropriate for frequent change of place. The level of difficulty depends not on dexterity but mostly on spatial vision. Instructions are provided in case the user needs help. The name - 1x3 is a mathematical expression that represents the logic of the wooden structure - one element type, three pieces of it.

5x5

The 5x5 chair is a typical design project where the limitation is recognised as a challenge. The chair's seat and the back are made of xilith which is very difficult to be shaped. Xilith is the raw material that can be found 300 meters under the ground's surface and is comined with a coal. Currently the majority of the raw material is thrown away. From environmental point of view this material generates waste on the earth's surface. Therefore the idea about the chair design seemed to be very provocative and challenging.

Phone Box

Designed to have a transparent enclosure, PhoneBox is a modern phone-booth almost blending in with the city thanks to its elegant look. Unlikely to generate a solid body incoherent with the concept, PhoneBox perfectly fits the urban environment where the space is aimed to be brought to the fore. Emphasizing an easy access both to communication and information, optionally illuminated closed roof also serving as a canopy assures the people by offering a safe yet not isolated place among the crowd.
