The folding chair adopts tilting on chairs as the design principle, the user is actively involved in sitting on it. The two necessary legs of the chair are transformed into two thin panels with their bottom edges touching on the floor as a skid. They are wrapped with a band of fabric, that connects the top edges of the panels to a flexible seat, that automatically nestles to the back contour of the user. This design grants an active and most flexible sitting position, a reduction of its construction and required materials. Not being used it can be collapsed to a thickness of less than 20 mm.

The remodeling of the existing parking lot in the small seaport town of Youghal quickly became an iconic visual symbol for the town. The 12 umbrellas that measure 6 x 6 m cover the former parking lot and convert it into a meeting place capable of withstanding a wide range of weather conditions. Local residents have since lovingly nicknamed the area “Umbrella Square”. Nothing more to add to this urban architectural intervention? It could not have been better – and this is the case for everyone involved.
